How can you get around Omaha during the BRK AGM week?
I have collected all available transportation options in Omaha for you in this part of the Omaha guide. To make using these options easy, I have included helpful apps whenever possible.
What are Good Investing’s recommendations for getting from A to B in Omaha?
These are my top three recommendations to get from A to B in Omaha:
- Uber & Lyft
- Omaha’s public bus lines
- Heartland Bike Share
Uber & Lyft over you a lot of convince. They will be used by most shareholders. Omaha’s public bus lines and Heartland Bike Share offer you a great mobility deal.
How walking friendly is Omaha? 🏃🏻
Walking is an excellent option if you stay in Omaha’s east. The older districts of Omaha’s east offer a decent walking infrastructure. By walking, you can also explore the city better. Google Maps is the ideal app for your walks. I recommend downloading the local maps ahead of traveling. So, your data consumption in the US can stay low.
Can you use bike-sharing or e-scooters in Omaha? 🚲
You can rent a Heartland Bike in many parts of Omaha. All your bike rides with the e-bikes will be covered with the monthly pass for $20 (+tax). The BCycle app helps you find and reserve bikes. Your bike is picked up and locked at a vast station network within Omaha. To find the safest biking routes, you can discover Omaha’s biking infrastructure via Google Maps.
Which buses can you use? 🚌
Plenty of bus lines run daily from 6 AM to 9 PM in Omaha. You can search for your best bus connections with the MyRide OMA app, Google Maps, or this system map.
Bus tickets are super affordable, especially if you travel long distances. A ticket only costs $1.25 per ride. They can be purchased online with the Umo app, at ticket machines, or in cash on the bus. There is also a 10-ride pass for $12.50. I recommend bringing the exact sum if you want to pay in cash. Refunds will only be done with vouchers.
I enjoyed using buses during my stay in Omaha. To master your ride, I recommend watching this short video. The buses were on time and offered a lot of seating. Especially, the ORBT line is conviniend. It runs every 10 minutes from West to East and vice versa. Buses can often be faster than Uber and Lyft, if you factor in the wait time while only costing a fraction per person and ride.
On Saturday, Berkshire Hathaway offers additional bus shuttles to and from the Berkshire Shareholder Meeting. You can find the routes in the visitor’s guide.
How can you use Uber, Lyft or Taxis? 🚕
Ride-sharing apps like Lyft and Uber can help you to get you around in Omaha. Many trips should be doable below $10 each. You can also compare fares for Uber and Lyft ahead of your trip to plan your budget and get a sense of “normal pricing”.
If you plan to take a Lyft, Uber, or Taxi from Omaha Eppley Airfield to your accommodation, please make sure to check out this website to find the right pick-up spot. Sadly, Uber and Lyft can’t pick you up anymore at the exit of the airport. You have to go to the dedicated pick-up and drop-off spot in the parking garage.
Looking for a cab via the zTrip app or calling +1(402)292-2222 could save you a lot of money. Uber and Lyft can be super expensive during the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting week due to dynamic pricing. In such cases, taxis can be a cheaper alternative due to price caps.
How can you rent a car for your Omaha stay? 🚗
You can also book a rental car for traveling in Omaha. Qeeq could help you find a great deal for your rental. I recommend using the rental car station at the airport. There, you find plenty of providers.
In Omaha, you can use the ParkOmaha (iOs | Android) app for parking. If you are looking for parking around Old Market, please look at the free parking at the bridge at the Durham Museum.

Omaha offers several great restaurants worth visting:
- Steaks: Many shareholders plan to visit a steak house. Gorat’s is strongly associated with Warren Buffett. I also have heard that many visitors love Fleming’s or The Drover.
- Reuben sandwiches: The Reuben sandwich, created in Omaha, comes close to being an authentic “Omahaian meal”. You can enjoy a tasty Reuben in Omaha in many great places.
- Burgers: Barrett’s, Block 16 and Best Burger offer great burgers in Omaha.
- Pizza: There is always time for good pizza! Smokin’ Oak, Pitch Pizzeria, Lyle’s Pizzeria and Orsi’s could be worth a visit.
- Vegetarian & vegan food: Modern Love located in the Midtown Crossing, is a great vegan restaurant. Block16 and V. Mertz at Old Market offer several vegan options.
- Healthy food: Akarui, Bangkok Kitchen, Corkscrew Wine & Cheese, and Clean Slate Food & Co. offer great healthy food options.
Where can you find breakfast & coffee & ice cream? ☕
I could discover a few great breakfast and coffee spots I am happy to share with you:
- Breakfast: The Saddle Creek Breakfast Club, Early Bird Brunch, and Lola’s are breakfast restaurants worth visiting.
- Coffee: There are several great coffee spots in Omaha, like, Kochava, Godega Market, Archetype Coffee or The Mill on Leavenworth.
- Ice cream: The award-winning Coneflower Creamery is my go-to-place for ice cream in Omaha. They have two locations in the Blackstone district and at Millwork Commons.
Where could you have a drink? 🍺
Do you want a grab a drink with friends? Please consider these locations:
- Bars: Mr. Toad, Wicked Rabbit, The Berry & Rye at Old Market and Proof and The Bull Moose are worth a visit.
- Beer: Beer lovers will also enjoy the many craft breweries in Omaha. Insights into the vital scene are shared by Visit Omaha.
Where to buy groceries? 🛒
Here you can discover the best grocery stores in Omaha:
- Groceries: I recommend Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, or one of the many Aldi to buy groceries. The Farmers Market at Old Market could also be fun to visit.
- Bakeries: I care about good bread as German. And Great Harvest Bakery is a bakery where I found great bread.
Where can you go shopping?
Shopping fans will be happy at these stores:
- Hollywood Candy: Hollywood Candy is the coolest store in Omaha. Here, you can buy candies, enjoy Hollywood vibes, and sit in the same seats as Warren Buffett and Bill Gates did.
- Tannenbaum: Fans of Christmas decorations will love Tannenbaum at Old Market. Buy the quirkiest Christmas decorations all year long there.
- Second-hand bookshops: Lovers of (investing) books, can also try their luck at one of the several second-hand book stores in Omaha. Here, they might be able to get a signed investing book copy for a bargain price.

You can spend a great time at these attractions:
- Omaha’s Zoo: Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo is definitely worth a visit! The Zoo is one of the world’s best. Please make sure to bring some time with you to enjoy the Zoo and the Aquarium.
- Joselyn Art Museum: The Joslyn Art Museum is Omaha’s freshly renovated art museum. Here you can enjoy art from all epochs in Omaha.
